Welcome to our introduction to the cruises out of the port of New York in 2016. There are a lot of interesting voyages available, so let's get to it.

In January 2016, 13 cruises will depart from New York. They include a cruise to Australia on the stately Queen Mary 2. It goes to the Caribbean, down the Atlantic coast of South America, and around the horn to get to the South Pacific, New Zealand and Australia.

February's 10 cruises are highlighted by 5 trips to the Caribbean. 12-day Southern Caribbean and 10-day Eastern Caribbean cruises are options.

12 cruises are offered out of NYC in March 2016. 7-day Bahamas cruises are iconic voyages and usually include a stop in Florida for an excursion to Orlando or Cape Canaveral.

April offers 11 cruises, including the first cruise to Bermuda of the year. Bermuda is a favorite destination throughout the summer.

19 cruises are on the schedule for May 2016, including two unusual ones. A cruise to Portugal on Oceania stops at the islands of the Azores and Madeira. Princess Cruises offers a cruise to Iceland and Scotland.

The 20 voyages in June include three 9-night round-trips to Bermuda and the Caribbean on the fantastic Royal Caribbean Anthem of the Seas.

July 2016 is busy with 26 departures. Transatlantic cruises to England or Europe are a "must" experience for anyone who enjoys cruising.

The heat of August is a perfect reason to sail to Bermuda. 11 of the month's 22 cruises go there.

The weather cools in September and ships head for the scenic beauty of Canada and New England. 17 of September's 24 cruises go north.

October is New York's busiest cruise month in 2016. 30 cruises go to Italy, Brazil, Canada, Bermuda, England, Bahamas, Puerto Rico, and the Caribbean. 5 exciting Disney cruises are offered, which are a treat for the whole family.

12 departures are scheduled for November, mostly to the Bahamas and Caribbean.

December is the least active month for cruises from New York. 9 choices are available, but 6 are special holiday cruises for either Christmas or the New Year.
